Why Visits Are Important?
- Child is able to maintain a safe relationship with both parents.
- Child can see that the visiting parent cares about him/her and wants to see him/her.
- Visits maintain connection between parent and child that helps child develop and maintain a sense of self.
Visits help child to see parent realistically. Children have a relationship with the other parent in their minds, contacts allow for realistic relationship rather than idealized or devalued ideas
