The Right Monitor can ideally be a beacon of light in an often-dismal situation. The role of the monitor is to promote the safety and welfare of the child (ren), as well as to observe and note all that is seen and heard in a manner that is both child and parent friendly and does not interfere with normal healthy child-parent interactions.
In order to create a positive and comfortable situation for the child(ren), our monitors are familiarized with the specifics of each new case referred to the Agency. There is an open-ended clinical discussion with the monitors, the case managers, and the clinical staff in order to assure objective, child-safe and parent-friendly visitations at the convenience of the families.
The families referred for supervised visitations are usually allegedly impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, or stalking, thus our monitors are required to have specific awareness of these issues and a solid understanding of the dynamics of power and control that accompany such behaviors.
The Monitors of Family Care Agency, Inc. have received Child Abuse Identification and Report Training, and comply with section 26.2 of the California Rules of Court . They are CPR and First Aid Certified. Each of them has been screened through the California Department of Justice Live Scan Background Clearance Program.
